Expanses of open land

The expanses of open land, picturesque barns and modest granite buildings speak to the once-rural quality of the area. These features now reflect how the people once relied on local materials and building techniques, and on each other to survive in a sparsely populated land. While many of these areas are not open to the public, they can still be experienced, especially from the PATH trail system.
