Spawning beds for both bass and bream appear in the spring. Large carp are sometimes visible foraging on the bottom and within casting range. Largemouth bass are catch-and-release only.

Located by the Alexander Lake entrance lies the Parker House, the oldest home in Rockdale County. Built around 1822, the Parker House is a relic of white settlement along what was, at that time, the Georgia frontier. This home stood at the center of the Parker family’s plantation, where as many as 24 enslaved people farmed cotton and wheat. This essential piece of Rockdale history was nearly demolished in the 1990s for a golf course.
