Service Learning on the South River

Feb 21, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

South RiverYou can improve the health of an entire river system! Join us as we restore native river cane to several locations along the South River. The cane will provide important habitat for wildlife and act as a natural filter for the river. We’ll also be removing large sections of non-native plants that are taking away habitat from river cane and choking the river.

This is a test site and could be the foundation for new practices in river restoration across Georgia! Be a part of this ground breaking project and help create healthy rivers for generations. As a special bonus you’ll also learn about the habitat you’re working to protect during the project!

This is a large-scale project so we’re having several volunteer events. Please check the schedule below and join us as often as you can to see this project take shape! Just click on a date to be taken to the sign up page at Volunteer Match. If you haven’t volunteered using this site before you’ll need to create an account. It is easy and free!
