After put in at Panola Shoals it doesn't take long to put the hurried pace of life behind us. The sounds of cars and people are quickly replaced by the sounds of rushing water, the singing of birds, and sometimes just unbelievable silence.

Paddle the exquisite South River from Lorraine Trailhead to Oglesby Bridge Road (Rockdale County). Put in 9:00 a.m. and take out 2:00 p.m.; distance approximately 6.0 miles. The three recent heavy rains, in November, at Christmas time, and last month, washed a huge amount of trash up on the riverbanks of the South River and we need your help to clean it up!
