The Champion: Diamorpha returning to Arabia

The Champion editor Jay Phillips writers: “In early March, a rare flower that seemingly sprouts out of the rocks of Arabia and Panola mountains will begin to cover the mountains in patches of red.

“The flower, called diamorpha, grows in small solution pits that cover the mountains. Guests are asked not to step in or disturb the pools, as the flowers and other life inside the pools are rare and fragile. Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance (AMHAA) has several guided hikes planned for mid-March and early April that are designed to highlight the flower and teach guests about conservation efforts in the area.”
