Bruce Street School Ruins Project Phase 2
This phase includes Archeological Excavation, Site Clean-Up, Soil Testing & Restoration, and Structural Shoring as needed
Our goal is $100,000.
Phase 2 is the only community funded element of this project. It is an opportunity for the surrounding neighbors and former students and their descendants to invest in the initiation of the preservation project. Future funding for the preservation and building will come from county and federal dollars.
Phase 2 will start in May 2023 with an archaeological evaluation to find out if important archaeological information can be found within the school ruins and the land around it. We will host one on-site community engagement session during the archaeological excavation that may include activities such as digging, screening for artifacts, in-field artifact sorting and some mapping activities.
