Relax by volunteering at the Youth Farm Garden and spending time in nature.

What to expect: Get ready to roll up your sleeves and volunteer in the garden! We will meet in the garden. Sign in will be at the round table when you enter the garden. There will be a wide range of garden activities needed, so each week will be slightly different.

Help us as we maintain our beds, start winter greens, harvest summer produce, and weed around the garden. We will work in the greenhouse, raised bed garden, and more rain or shine!

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Sherrie Barnes, a DeKalb County Park Ranger at EMBARC Youth Farm.

Where to meet: Find Ranger Sherrie in the garden behind the brown office building (1185 Rock Chapel Rd.). Please sign in at the round table.

What to bring: Wear comfortable footwear, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle. If you have work gloves, please bring them as we will have limited materials available to borrow.

Restrooms: There is a portapotty in the parking lot available for use (professionally cleaned twice a week).

Recommended ages: All ages are welcome, but we ask that volunteers under 17 be accompanied by an adult. Children under 12 need to be closely monitored at all times for safety.

Dogs: This program is NOT appropriate for dogs, so please leave your pup at home.

Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).

Exposure: This garden is in full sun, so please make sure to wear a hat and bring sun protection.
