Volunteer Habitat Restoration Workday At Historic Wilburn Farm

Oct 15, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Birds Georgia is restoring approximately 20 acres of grassland for birds and other wildlife at the Historic Wilburn Farm in the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. Our main goal for the workday is to remove small woody invasives from the perimeter of the meadows. If we have time, we will start collecting some seeds from the native grasses found in the meadows. The Habitat Team started collecting native seeds from the property and could use help collecting more. After we remove the invasive species from the property, these seeds will be used to replant with natives.

This site is close to Panola Mountain State Park, but we currently do not have a good address to use to navigate to it. After you register, we will send out the coordinates and any other navigational information. Register here or at the link below.

What to bring?

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes
  • Close-toed shoes – boots recommended
  • Recommended but not required: sunglasses, binoculars (it’s a great spot for birding!)
