Play In The Dirt And Help A Local Farmer!

Sep 7, 2013 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

We have a very special 1st Saturday volunteer event for the Arabia Alliance! The Flat Rock Archives along with The Homestead Atlanta are inviting you out to help prep garden beds, plant native wildflowers and shrubs, and spread some healthy mulch around.

This event will take place on the grounds of the Flat Rock Archives (a long-term partner of the Arabia Alliance). The Archives offer a chance to learn about one of the oldest African American communities in the country and is dedicated to discovering and preserving the history of our ancestors.  The small farm at the Archives produces food for the community and is used to teach farming practices to local high school students.

Sounds great right? In one project you get to help three great nonprofits and help students learn about where their food comes from!  All the details are below and we hope to see you on Saturday!

Date: This Saturday, September 7th
Time: 9am to Noon
Where: The Historic Flat Rock Archives: 3979 Crossvale Rd Lithonia, GA 30038
Directions: Just 20 minutes east of Atlanta, off Route 20. Take Panola Rd. south, make a left on Salem Rd., make a right on Crossvale Rd…. Enjoy the view…. and you will come upon, The Flat Rock Archives, down the road, just around the bend! Please note that GPS devices can get a little confused in this area.

Special Offer: volunteers are invited to stay, camp, and receive a 50% discount to Sunday’s Homestead Atlanta workshop at Arabia on Sunday! Email for more details or just come out to hear more!
