At this October Lunch & Learn, cultural landscape specialist and story coach Andrew Kohr and author/journalist Jeff Dingler will talk about historic cemeteries in the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area. There are at least two-dozen graveyards in this section of the southeast DeKalb County, ranging from early slave cemeteries that became burial grounds for freed communities to mysterious private family plots surrounded surrounded by thick walls of local granite. However, many are neglected and in danger of being forgotten.

Join us for an insightful lecture about how Kohr surveyed and studied these disparate cemeteries and how locals can volunteer with the Arabia Alliance to help maintain many of these historic burial places that are imperiled or neglected.
