What to expect: Celebrate Grandparents’ Day with a relaxing guided hike at Arabia Mountain. Spend quality time together surrounded by breathtaking views and peaceful vibes. We’ll explore the Preserve together and have you back at the Nature Center just in time to find brunch at a restaraunt nearby.

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Rachel Roberts, the DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Arabia Mountain.

Where to meet: Find Ranger Rachel in the Nature Center (3787 Klondike Rd.).

What to bring: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and outdoor hiking shoes. Please bring your own water and any snacks you might need to stay energized and hydrated throughout the program. We encourage participants to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection, as well as insect repellent to keep the bugs at bay. Sunscreen and bug spray are available at the Nature Center.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available in front of the Nature Center. You will look for a brown building with red doors.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for all ages.

Dogs: This program is NOT appropriate for dogs, so please leave your pup at home.

Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).

Walking distance: Approximately 3 miles

Exposure: This walk is under shaded tree canopy as well as sections in full sun.

Trail surface & accessibility: This program stays on established soft trails of mixed terrain. There are sections of the walk that are quite steep and also have exposed roots.
