Flora And Fiber With Zaree Ross

Jan 25 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

FREE

Woven from fiber artistry and the core threads of DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs—care for people, care for place, and shared access to nature—this experience invites participants to slow their pace and engage the landscape through texture, color, pattern, and place. This program will be held rain or shine, unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County RPCA staff.

Program Leader: Led by Zaree Ross
Supported by Ranger Rachel Roberts

Where to Meet: Find Ranger Rachel under the green pavilion at the end of the parking lot by the large field. There will be a sign-in sheet on the picnic table, so please sign in upon arrival. NOTE: The only restroom is at park headquarters, so please plan ahead.

What to Bring: Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.
Bring a refillable water bottle and any personal comfort or outdoor items you prefer (e.g., notebook, lightweight seating pad, knitting/crochet project and bag if desired—optional).

What We’ll Do: Participants will take part in a gentle, reflective walk through the park’s forest to the large granite outcrop accompanied by birdsong and wind through the trees. This setting inspires and invites exploration of how movement, flow, and repetition influence traditional fibers, patterns, and creative expression. The program concludes with a communal moment for knitting, pattern sharing, and a yarn swap, offering space for connection, exchange, and creative reflection.

This program is designed for adults and older youth, but all ages are welcome. Click here or the link below to register.
