Join us for a morning hike at Arabia Mountain as Ranger Robby shows off our signature Yellow Daisies, or Porter’s sunflowers.

Daisy Day Hike

What to expect: Experience Arabia Mountain at its most colorful during our Daisy Day Hike with Ranger Robby. Arabia’s rare and resilient wildflowers light up the granite landscape, offering a seasonal show like no other. Along the way, we’ll explore the ecology of the rock outcrop, and learn how these plants adapt to such unique conditions.

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Robby Astrove, a DeKalb County Natural Resource Manager at Arabia Mountain.

Where to meet: Find Ranger Robby at the Nature Center (3787 Klondike Rd.).

What to bring: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and outdoor hiking shoes. Please bring your own reusable water bottle. We also encourage wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection, as well as insect repellent to keep the bugs at bay. Sunscreen and bug spray are available in the Nature Center.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available in front of the Nature Center. You will look for a brown building with red doors.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for all ages.

Dogs: This program is appropriate for dogs. We ask that they stay leashed throughout the entirety of the program and out of the delicate solution pits on the mountain.

Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).

Walking distance: Approximately 2.5-3 miles.

Exposure: Some of the hike will be under a shaded canopy while some will be in full sun.

Trail surface & accessibility: This program will hike on a mix of established soft trails, concrete PATH, and uneven natural surfaces. Suitable for most participants, but may be a challenge for those with low mobility.
