Arabia Mountain History Hike

Part 1 uncovers the stories of the meadows and homestead ruins which occupy the western side of the preserve. In Part 2, we’ll dive into the industrial heritage of the east side of the preserve, and learn about the quarrying history that shaped the landscape. History Hike Part 1: West – Wilburn Farm
Date: Sunday May 19 from 2-5pm
Hiking Difficulty: Easy – Moderate
Distance: 1.5 Miles
Meeting Location: 3899 N Goddard Rd, Stonecrest, GA 30038
Trail Condition: Grass trails, with some slightly muddy patches.
History Hike Part 2: East – The Old Quarry
Date: Sunday May 26 from 2-5pm
Hiking Difficulty: Moderate – Moderately Strenuous
Distance: 3.2 Miles
Meeting Location: Nature Center – 3787 Klondike Rd, Stonecrest, GA 30038
Trail Condition: Rocky, uneven terrain mixed with grass/mud trails. Not recommended for those with physical concerns.
What to Expect for Both Hikes
This will be your typical guided nature hike experience, with a specific focus on Arabia Mountain’s cultural history. We will be out in the sun for most of our journey, feel free to bring/use whatever other items you need to stay comfortable outside (e.g. bug spray, sunscreen, hat, etc.)
Clothing: Pants that cover the legs and closed-toed shoes are a must. Other than that, dress for the weather.
