A Tribute to Black History in DeKalb Featuring Historian, Author and Activist Dr. Herman “Skip” Mason, Jr.

Join us for our 16th Annual Black History Month Celebration! Dr. Herman “Skip” Mason, Jr., will provide an exciting retrospective look at DeKalb’s history through the lens of his book African American Life in DeKalb County, 1823 – 1970, published in 1998. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to gain insights, understanding, and an authentic connection to DeKalb County’s rich African American heritage.

Marcia Glenn Hunter, Lithonia’s first Black female mayor AND Arabia Alliance’s Board President, will provide opening remarks.

Our program will include celebratory musical selections from singer Nzinga Benton. Dancer Morgan Harrell, Miss Middle West Georgia, will close the program with a dynamic interpretive dance.
