An extended guided Nature hike to explore more of Arabia Mountain’s unique landscape.

What to Expect: Come join us for a 10-mile adventure at the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve! This hike is for those who want just a little more than what we offer on our weekly hikes. More nature, more distance, more views, and more exploration! We will meet at the Nature Center before heading out. We’ll hike at a somewhat relaxed pace, but we will maintain a 2.5 mile/hr speed so we’re back on time! Join us to connect with nature and challenge yourself a little.

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Rachel, the DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Arabia, and Ranger Marquez, Ranger at Arabia Alliance.

Where to meet: Find Ranger Rachel in the Nature Center (3787 Klondike Rd).

What to bring: Wear comfortable footwear, dress for the weather, don’t forget snacks, and bring a refillable water bottle. If you want to bring lunch, please make sure it’s something you can eat while hiking as we won’t make long stops for food. We encourage wearing a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and long pants to protect against sticks and ticks.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available in the Nature Center parking lot and portapotties located throughout the Preserve.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for adults, but all ages are welcome.

Dogs: This program is NOT appropriate for dogs, so please leave your pup at home.

Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).

Walking distance: 10-12 miles

Exposure: This walk is under shaded tree canopy and in full sun.
