Sneak “Peak”: Madness 2016

Just 30 minutes east of Atlanta, you can see vernal pools, snorkelwort, and diamorpha at our local monadnocks. In March, you can experience these unique places firsthand through guided hikes and events at Arabia, Panola, and Stone Mountains. Visit all three parks during the month, and you’ll earn a special souvenir that you can wear as a badge of honor.

This hiking adventure is sponsored by the Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance in partnership with the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, Panola Mountain State Park, and Stone Mountain Memorial Association.

Planning is still underway for the fourth annual Monadnock Madness, but many exciting events are already locked down! Some of the most popular events are listed below, but remember, the Triple Hike Challenge and the photography classes require a reservation.

Triple Hike Challenge

Ready, steady, GO! Climb Stone, Arabia, and Panola Mountains all in one unforgettable day! We’ve set up a fast-paced schedule that will allow you to conquer each peak while learning about the incredible ecosystems of each monadnock along the way. As a special treat, you can even watch the sunset from the top of Panola Mountain and end the day by roasting marshmallows around a campfire during the March 5, 19, and 20 hikes. This event sold out in one day last year so get your tickets now!
