Monadnock Madness 2022: First to Finish
Congratulations to our first three Monadnock Madness 2022 Triple Hike Challenge finishers! Jennifer, Ruth and D. Vanessa (not pictured below) completed the Challenge over the first weekend of March by hiking Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and Panola Mountain State Park. The Monadnock Madness 2022 Triple Hike Challenge takes place throughout the month. Hike all three mountains (on your own time and at your own pace – this event is self-guided), take a selfie at each and then submit them to our online form. All three of these mountains are “monadnocks,” or geological formations that have become prominent as the surrounding landscape has eroded around them. These rock outcrops support a variety of rare plant life, such as diamorpha.
Also a special shout-out to Ruth (at right) for sporting the 2021 Monadnock Madness Triple Hike Challenge bandanna. All participants receive a bandanna once they’ve finished the challenge – and the design changes every year. Way to go Ruth!
